Two Top Recommendations By Dr. Oz For Weight Loss And Diabetics- Stevia And Blue Agave

It seems every week the topic of weight loss is in the news. It’s no surprise when we review the stats why it is so well liked. Approximately 1.6 billion consumers overweight and 400 million are obese.

It’s no surpise why it’s such a popular topic and one that is in the news every day. Dr. Oz is a popular celebrity on ABC TV and just ran a show on weight loss recently. The person was addicted to sugar, consuming five packets of sugar at a time and wanted to remove sugar from her diet.

Of all the products out there, Dr. Oz only picked 2 natural sweetener products to use: Blue Agave and stevia. Diabetes and over weight stats globally are very high. The food industry has been introducing healthier foods as a positive trend that began over 10 years ago.

Today, the terms ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ are consumers’ popular terms in healthy foods. Let’ take a look at the two natural sweeteners Dr. Oz recommended, and you’ll see why the proof is in the sweetener.

Blue Agave is organic and this natural sweetener is extracted from the heart of the Agave plant and has been consumed for thousands of years. It is sweeter than regular sugar and Agave is a low glycemic Index (GI) sweetener. Slowly absorbed into the body, it prevents artificial rises in blood sugar, so a little works best. Using this organic sweetener instead of table sugar is even good for baking.

Stevia- based sweeteners offer a combination of positive benefits: natural, high intensity, and zero calories and zero carbs. Stevia-based high purity sweeteners are natural. Stevia is 200-300 times stronger than table sugar and has been a proven product for weight loss and diabetic patients.

Application for stevia sweetener is growing everyday and this natural sweetener has both favorable physical and functional benefits. Natural stevia-based sweeteners blend well in a wide range of food applications, beverages, and dietary supplements. Artificial sweeteners with aspartame and sugar are likely to be the replacement targets for emerging stevia sweeteners, and beverages will be the first main application.

In the U.S., the FDA only granted the first no objection letters for Reb-A’s (Rebaudioside -A) use in foods in December 2008 to Cargill. Until then, dried stevia leaves and extracts could only be used in dietary supplements that date back to 1995. Stevia RA 97 is now recognized as a natural sweetener and not just a dietary supplement.

This will bring stevia to main stream quickly. Dr. Oz is in the know and one of the most recognized physicians on TV today. His recommendations for two natural sweeteners in weight loss and diabetes is well taken.

If you must use a sweetener, use either of these two natural sweeteners. Try using either blue agave or natural stevia sweetener and see why this product is gaining in popularity for both weight loss and diabetes. Blue Agave and stevia are found both on the internet as well as in many health food markets.

Stevia is wonderful. However, it stands to reason that the numerous benefits of stevia is negated or at least reduced when there are additives blended with stevia. Some brands like Truvia, PureVia, Stevia in the Raw, and Sun Crystals are at least 95% sugars.

SweetLeaf Stevia has no sugars and no chemicals blended with the product or used in processing, so the natural benefits of stevia remain, including its 0 calorie, 0 carb, and 0 glycemic index properties. The powder is only blended with soluble inulin fiber, a digestive aid.
