Discover Which Hemorrhoids Treatment Is Best

Hemorrhoids are a particularly nasty complaint that many people suffer from at times. Often caused by constipation, they are triggered by straining the anus. Many pregnant women also suffer from the condition. Whilst pain can be severe, and bleeding occurs, it is not a serious concern. Whilst they will most likely settle down by themselves, there are numerous hemorrhoids treatment options.

The simplest approach is to relax in a tub of warm water. This will ease the itchiness, and soothe swelling.

Another effective self help method is to apply an ice pack, or cold compress to the anus. Again, this will stop the itchy sensation, ease pain, and reduce swelling. Application of the compress should last for no more than thirty minutes.

If these fail to work, hemorrhoids treatment creams could be effective. There are many options available, which can simply be applied to the affected area for immediate and ongoing relief.

If the pain is very severe, a cream with added anesthetic or steroids can be applied. Your pharmacist will be able to guide you through the best options. Whichever you decide to go for, application of these creams should not be longer than seven days, as the sensitive skin around the anus is likely to become irritated.

Ongoing complaints can also be treated directly by your doctor. One method often used is banding – where a tight elastic band is applied to the base of the hemorrhoid. This serves to disrupt the blood supply, resulting in the hemorrhoid simply dropping off. A small amount of pain will likely be experienced, though this should be minimal.

There are further methods your doctor could recommend, either following banding, or instead of. These can include hemorrhoids treatment with infrared lights to burn away the tissue, or injections to halt blood supply to the area. Surgery can be resorted to, should the problem be severe or other treatments have little effect.
